Introducing Mark Meldrum

For Livestock Production Advisor Mark Meldrum, every day at Elders provides new opportunities.

Mark services clients throughout southern Queensland. In his role, Mark works closely with producers throughout the whole production cycle to maximise their livestock operations.

“My days consist of working with clients to assist them with improving productivity by developing structured animal health plans,” Mark said.

Mark has been with Elders for almost 25 years and holds an additional 18 years’ experience in the meat industry.  Running a breeder grazing property with his wife, Mark is an experienced grazier in his own right. He draws on his considerable wealth of knowledge to advise his clients.

“In April 2000, I first started as a Territory Sales Manager working from the now-closed Ipswich Saleyards in Queensland,” Mark said.

“From there, I took on a role as a Sales Support Officer at Elders Gatton for a few months, before transferring to Elders Kalbar to work in merchandise sales. After six months, I transferred to Elders Beaudesert where I took on a Livestock Production Sales role, eventually becoming a manager in 2019. In November 2024 I took on the role of Livestock Production Advisor for the whole southern Queensland region.”

Mark said one of the best parts of his role now is the feeling of satisfaction when he hits a target or achieves a goal for a client.

“Nothing compares to the feeling when a client comes back to say that they have seen results with the support and processes I have provided to improve the performance of their livestock,” Mark said.

Having had the benefit of working with Mark in the past, client Nick Cameron from Nindooinbah, which is just southeast of Beaudesert, shared his thoughts on Mark’s services.

“I just wanted to mention Mark’s efforts in servicing us in the past. I consider Mark to be part of our business, which I think is the ultimate service that he can provide."

"Nothing is ever a problem, and he has been a tremendous help to us in selecting the right animal health products to use, and assisting us with any other issues that may arise. His services are greatly appreciated.”

Mark also works hard to mentor junior staff who are coming up through the ranks at Elders.

“I enjoy working with staff in branches, training and answering any questions they have, so they can better support our clients,” Mark said.

“I’m currently working on training Elders staff from across southern Queensland branches to become Livestock Production Specialists in their own right, so we can assist more livestock producers across the network.

“Elders is a great company with so many wonderful staff and clients. No two days are the same and the opportunities that Elders provides for staff to be able to move and try different roles are endless.”
